Manual Handling Tasks
- Keep load close to body when carrying / pushing /pulling. Maintain elbows by side.
- Avoid twisting whilst carrying items.
- Avoid static rotated postures by ensuring “nose over toes” principle always. Feet should be facing direction of movement and/or peer direction.
- Avoid static reach postures with arms at or above shoulder height.
- Avoid static reach postures with arms extended to outer body range.
- Avoid lifting heavy loads at or above shoulder height.
- To achieve neutral spine alignment, remember the 3 C’s. Can be achieved in seated or standing position,
- CORE ensure hips are level. Avoiding tendency to tip in forward, back, left,right direction
- CHEST lift sternum upwards to open chest
- CHIN tuck chin inwards toward body
