Lockers

  • All street clothes shall be neatly stored in lockers provided. Any clean work clothes / hairnets not worn during the day must be stored separately from street clothes and shoes / other personal items, and returned to the laundry at the end of production.
  • Disposable work gloves, armlets or cut proof gloves MUST NOT be stored in the locker. These are available at entry to the processing floor.
  • Food and drink can only be placed temporarily in lockers in enclosed container to ensure they do not contaminate any work equipment.
  • Work equipment, knives, scabbards, steels, aprons and work boots stored in the locker at the end of production must be visibly clean. This includes the underside of work boots
  • Work equipment should not be placed in or together with work boots
  • Lockers must be free of dirty work clothing. Dirty work clothes are to be returned to laundry bins provided at the laundry store at the end of the operator’s day.
  • Employees shall present lockers for inspection upon request by QA staff and authorised persons. Lockers may be checked at any time for hygienic compliance with this instruction.
  • Meat handlers are to store personal effects, clothing and work implements when they are not in use to ensure they do not contaminate meat and meat products.
  • Lockers should be emptied each Friday.

Jewellery, Cosmetics

  • All jewellery including jewellery with stones, watches, sleepers – keeper studs shall be removed before entering a processing area. Rings and studs in exposed parts of the body such as ears, noses, tongues and eyebrows shall not be worn.`
  • Watches shall not be worn.
  • Difficult to remove wedding bands must be covered with an impervious dressing or glove that will changed at work *breaks or as required
  • Nail polish, heavily scented hand cream or cosmetics that could contaminate prescribed products shall be removed prior to entry to a processing area.  Excessive perfume or aftershave shall not be worn. Fingernails are to be kept short, clean and unvarnished. False fingernails and nail art are not permitted.
  • Religious jewellery and medical alert tags are not to be worn. Any issues with this may be must be communicated to the OH & S Manager.

Consumption of Food and Drink

  • Food and drink and confectionary shall only be consumed in designated areas, which are segregated away from food handling and storage ares.
  • Drinking shall be permitted from approved drink dispensers (bubblers) provided in processing areas location does not present risk to product.
  • Smoking is only permitted in the specially designated areas. Smoking is strictly prohibited in any other area of the plant.
